Yay, Internet

You gotta love (?) sports forums:

I'm going out on a limb to say your not one of the most intelligent of people that I have ever seen and I have never heard you talk. You just seem to prove it by just typing. And that takes real work there stud.

Anyway... How 'bout them Lady Vols, huh? My boss went to Stanford, and she and a couple of others from work came over to watch the game. Good times. Of course, I had to treat them to Rocky Top at the end of the game to seal the deal.

Hey, I hear there's a football draft coming up in a few weeks, finally marking the halfway point of the off-season.

March Madness

This is the first March Madness I've really given two shits about. Yes, I think I'm actually starting to become a college basketball fan (though the NBA still has absolutely zero appeal for me). As such, I find CBS/NCAA March Madness on Demand pretty friggin' cool, as I'm sure many desk slaves will agree. We need more free-to-the-viewer sports online. Apparently NBC will broadcast much of this year's summer olympics online via Microsoft's Silverlight system.

I can't believe he made a 720

I don't really keep up with what the kids these days are up to—although the guy in this video is 33—so today was the first I heard about this incident. Dude falls some 45 feet and walks away with only some internal bruising and a few fractured bones (vertebrae schmertebrae).

Awl you're base are belong two us.

It being football season and all, I tend to read a lot sports websites. Occasionally I'll venture into the comments section or forums of these sites. That's usually a mistake. In addition to the omnipresent trolls and the poor schmucks who think they can actually win an internet argument with those fuckers (don't feed the trolls, you morons!), I'm driven mad by the constant homonym/heterograph errors. I'd probably pull my hair out if I could grab a handful of it.

Anyway, I wondered if there was a way I could fit in if I ever wanted to participate in these discussions. Well, there is!

They don't want to see Appalachian State

Oops... So what do the AppState students back home in Boone do minutes after the big upset? Why, they rush their empty stadium, tear down a goal post, and carry it more than a mile across campus and down the street to the chancellor's house, of course.

Why couldn't it have been Peyton Manning?

Vince Young has been chosen to appear on the cover of Madden '08. So much for a Titans playoff run this season. With Pacman suspended for a year and Young facing an imminent season ending injury, maybe letting half of the veteran players go wasn't such a bad move after all.
