Topics on which I have intended to blog, but have failed to do so

  • Recently watched television series and movies
  • some books I read
  • my cell phone
  • the following video games: Dwarf Fortress, Gal Civ2.
  • the tomato sauce I made the other day
  • pictures.

That's all I can recall right now.

dwarf fortress

Holy shit best game ever!

Do you have any maps up on the map archive? That shit is awesome. When I moved I gave away my old computer, and with it a very successful fortress that I never archived. But my last. unsuccessful venture was here:

Damn gobbos penetrated my inner sanctum and were defiling my graves, eating my foods, and killing my dwarves. I can't wait until I get my new intel machine this weekend... unfortunately it won't run on powerPC chipset so I've been shit out of luck this last month.

tomato sauce

I could also go on about this, but I'll wait until you make a new post. I have at least 5 different tomato sauce recipies that I love.

FUCK YOU

Turns out 40c released last week runs on powerPC macs, so I'm probably going to have to waste precious hours playing today. I never would have known if I didn't read this post, so its your fault. I LOVE YOU AND I HATE YOU MR. BARTLEY!

PS. What window and tile settings do you use. I see in my absence Toady1 added the ability to increase the size of the screen. Its wonderful. Right now I am running with this setting, which gives me a large viewable area and sweet sweet bliss:

Fuck Matt Allen and Dwarf

Fuck Matt Allen and Dwarf Fortress, but Gal Civ 2 is pretty damn sweet. Gotten hooked back in every expansion, as well.

On television

I basically ran out of American TV I wanted to watch, so I've spent the last several months consuming British TV:

  • Peep Show: Doubleplusgood.
  • Shameless: The first couple of seasons were definitely the best, but last three are still better than most shows.
  • Secret Diary of a Call Girl: Rose Tyler nekkid! Actually quite a good show.
  • Sugar Rush: Good, but a little teeny at times, as any show revolving around teenagers will be...
  • Spooks: Good for a suspense/action show. First few seasons were the best. Don't get too attached to any characters, as pretty much anyone can die or get disappeared at any point (certainly adds to the suspense factor). Predictably a bit jingoistic.
  • Bodies: Also quite good. Gruesome.
  • Lab Rats: Blech. I guess I was desparate.

All but the last of those were at least nominated for some BAFTA TV award over the past few years, so it's not that I just like everything I watch. (I'm just incapable of describing things I like, other than as "good".)

Also, I've watched the first season of Mad Men, which is better than I would have thought. It was especially weird trying to remember figure out why a couple of the actors were so familiar, only to find out that it's Connor from Angel and Zoey Bartlet from The West Wing.

I've yet to watch Generation Kill, but I plan to soon.
