At long last

Picked up a copy of GTA4 last night at the local GameStop's midnight release, got home by 12:30, and only played for about three hours. This whole "work" thing is getting in the way of loftier pursuits.

I've been mostly trying to

I've been mostly trying to avoid reading reviews. I need to not go out and buy this game and the console needed to play it. I must not give in.

oh you must give in

I've played the game for maybe 10 or 12 hours now, and it is roundly awesome. There are so many improvements over the previous GTA iterations that I don't even know where to begin describing them.

Multi-player

The multi-player element of GTA4 is awesome. I just started playing online this weekend after finishing the single-player campaign, and it's the first time I've had fun playing with other random people in a long, long time. Mostly I've done deathmatch, and I've only begun to scratch the surface of the other play modes. Cops 'n' Crooks is fun, if not incredibly hard--when on the crooks team, all hinges on keeping one player (the Boss) alive, while the cops team charges recklessly after him to prevent him from reaching his destination.

And sure, there are a fair share of annoying little teenage pricks online, but you can always place them on mute.

Q: How much money do you give to a 900 foot Jesus?
A: As much as he wants.
